YarnCraft Episode 07 :: On the Set with Vanna White

Vanna WhiteIn a special episode, we go behind the scenes with Vanna White, co-host of America’s longest running game show, Wheel of Fortune.

Jessica talks to Vanna from her dressing room at Wheel of Fortune and discovers how much time Vanna really spends making crocheted gifts, who she makes them for, and how she connected with the charity that benefits from the sale of her new yarn, Vanna’s Choice. Jessica also speaks to David Blumenthal, president of Lion Brand, as he shares his personal stories of working with Vanna White for the last 13 years.

Stash This: Ideas for Your Crafting Life–Inspired by Vanna’s charity work, Liz and Zontee talk about different ways to connect to charities including the Lion Brand Charity Connection and subscribing to our Newsletter. Find out the top three things you should keep in mind when yarncrafting for charity.

I tried to listen to the podcast but the stupid 30’s music overpowers the speakers. Totally awful.

  2. Gail Says:

SORRY - regarding my earlier comment - I discovered the source of the 30″s music was NOT from your site or podcast.

  3. Knitting girl Says:

I really like your podcast. It was neat to find out that Vanna crochets.

  4. Kathyanne Says:

What is the pattern for the sweater Vanna is wearing from her new yarn?

  5. YarnCraft Says:

    Hi Kathyanne,

Vanna is wearing the Everyday Elegance Cardigan. It really is a great pattern.

    Thanks for listening, everyone!

What a terrific podcast!!! Loved everything about it, great interviews, great in every way. Probably the best I have ever heard.

  7. David in San Francisco Says:

    Very good!

I really enjoyed this episode because of the two interviews and the interesting regular features. Also I think this was more professionally executed than the previous ones.

Now, I have a request. In an earlier episode, you mentioned a knitting machine in the new catalog that piqued both my needleart interest & technolust.

Now that I have the catalog, I am a little perplexed at how it is supposed to work, and the disclaimer that there are no returns on this item worries me a little.

Could you do a short video podcast demonstrating how to use this thing? Or is an instructional video already available on your web site? Does it require batteries, I wonder?

    Keep up the good work!

I enjoyed this podcast, both Vanna White and David Blumenthal. It was fascinating to hear the “behind the scenes” talk. Thank you also for giving crochet so much more coverage in the past year. It’s great to find new crochet patterns and ideas on your website. Thanks for the creativity.

  9. Victoria Says:

Thanks so much for doing the podcast! I really enjoyed both the interviews in this episode. It’s very cool to know that Vanna crochets :) It’s nice to see crochet getting a bit more attention that it has in the past.

Keep up the good work and I’ll keep listening!

  10. Dani Says:

I really enjoyed hearing from Vanna, instead of just seeing her on TV. It sounds like she would be a fun person to have in a corchet club, because of all the stories she could share.

  11. Geraldine Says:

It was wonderful to listen in on this podcast with Vanna White! She is such a down to earth, gracious person and her personality always shines through.

A couple of years ago, I sent a copy of my new vegetarian cookbook to Vanna, as a gift. I was so pleased to receive a note and photo back from her, letting me know how much she enjoyed my ‘great cookbook’. What an honor. Vanna is a star, through and through….

    Thanks again.

The interviews were great. I loved hearing about Vanna’s crocheting and yarn. I just bought my first Vanna yarn. I can’t wait to use it.

The first podcast seem to only come out of one speaker/ear phone. This one had some kind of clicking. I Still think it is improving as you go.
