YarnCraft Episode 24 :: Embellishing with Color, Trims, Flowers, and more — with special guest Nicky Epstein

Felted FlowersMake every project special by adding that extra something. In today’s episode, the YarnCraft girls talk embellishment. Liz and Zontee talk about intarsia, Fair Isle, and other color techniques, as well as duplicate stitch, cross stitch, and embroidery. We take a look at Picture Perfect Knits, a new book with great charts for these techniques. We then talk about trims and edgings, tassels and fringe, flowers, and other embellishments. Learn tricks to make these classic techniques new again. Visit our StitchFinder for various knit and crochet trims, or check out our newsletter for the Trim of the Week.

  1. Sarah Says:

There seems to be an error opening the file. Also the direct dowload page won’t load. I can listen to #23 just fine. So seems the problem is just with #24. Thanks for such a great podcast!

  2. Burma Bochner Says:

Like Sarah, I can’t get podcast #24. I just get a message about some “Error” I have made! Help! I need my Zontee and Liz fix!

  3. Trisha Says:

This pod cast isn’t working. And I really want to listen.

  4. YarnCraft Says:

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the technical problem–the podcast should be up and running now!

    ~Zontee~

  5. Brianna Says:

Hey girls–this episode is still not available via iTunes. The feed refuses to update for me.

I’ve downloaded the episode directly, and so far it’s been working.

    Thanks for the podcast! :)

  6. Rebecca Says:

It is so annoying that I get the emails and it promises certain info ( this week it was info on making things for soldiers and last week it was something else) and when I click the link I never see what was promised. Perhaps it’s only for people that want to hear a podcast but I really HATE podcasts and I don’t want to have to download one on my slow internet to get the info that I came here for. NOT PLEASED

Zontee says: Hi Rebecca, sorry for the confusion. The newsletter did in fact have an article about knitting & crocheting for soldiers in it. The podcast is on embellishing, specifically. Articles are further down your newsletter, and you may have to scroll down to see pictures and articles. If you don’t see any pictures or graphics at all, then you may need to add our domain (@babysoft.lionbrand.com) to your “safe sender list” or you can always see our newsletters online at LionBrand.com by clicking on the “Newsletter Archive” link on the left-hand side.

  7. Rosemarie Says:

Still not fixed on iTunes. Only episodes 15 - 23 are available from iTunes as of today. I can listen to 24 at the website but I love listening on my iPod. Any idea when this issue will really be fixed?

  8. yolan Says:

Also not getting podcast from i-tunes.Have been trying for 4 -5 days. Can listen on the computer but I would like it on my ipod. Help as I am missing the most recent episode which looks like a good one

  9. YarnCraft Says:

    Hi Ladies,

We’ve already let iTunes know that there’s a problem. In the meantime, please right-click (Ctrl+click on Macs) on the “Direct Download” link above and save the file to your computer. Then you can import it into iTunes like you would any other sound file, and when you sync to your iPod, you can upload it. Hope that helps!

    ~Zontee~

  10. Giovanina Says:

Hi, I’m pleased with this episode because you ladies talked about embellishments and color work, this is very interesting matter for me. It is good to discover that we don’t need to weave like crazzy in the ends , it’s easier to carry the yarn strands toghether like you’ve said in the podcast. Thank’s!

  11. Harriett Says:

I’m inspired now to do more embellishments after listening to this podcasts.

  12. Cheryl W Says:

I made the fast finish throw….did not add the fringe, but knitted 8in I-cords. 4 I-cords per corner, each cord an individual corner. Then gathered the 4 I-cords together and made an overhand knot.

  13. Lourdes Orive Says:

Hi there - I’m still having problems importing this file into iTunes. Can you please contact them again about updating the podcast with episode 24? Thanks!!

  14. YarnCraft Says:

    Hi Everyone,

Episode #24 is now on iTunes!

    ~Zontee~
