I have to say that I really enjoy your podcast. I wanted to share with you a yarn craft that I have made for the holiday season. I roll all of my yarn into balls, that includes crochet thread. Well the left over cardboard tube that they are wrapped on, I didn't want to throw out. So me and my landlady's 12 yr. old daughter, Rebecca took different fashion yarns and wrapped the tubes in one single layer. Then I made a large loop to finish it off and made Christmas tree ornanments. Each one is different and has the personality of the creator. I like the cool colors of green, blue and purple. And Rebecca likes pinks, yellows and light purples. We even made one for my landlady (who is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan) using yellow and black Fun Fur. It's a inexpensive and creative project to do, especially with children.

Hi Chris,

I personally think that the classics like Barbara Walker's or Elizabeth Zimmermann's books are great resources for knitters. The Harmony Guides are also useful for knitters and crocheters in terms of stitches etc. I don't believe Lily has any new books out right now, but check her website for more info. Also, keep an eye out for a new book from Lion Brand later this year...can't say too much yet, but it might be a great addition to your library.

Kate is not a technical writer--her books are all novels--so unfortunately you won't find her in the knitting/crochet section of the bookstore, but her books are a fun read for between projects!

Hope that helps!

I always eagerly wait for your next podcast. What I'd like to know is there a good reference book out there? Do you have any favorites? Lily Chin is suppose to come out with 2 in knitting and crocheting. Did this happen yet? Maybe Kate has one on the market? I went to my local bookstore and nothing on the shelves were complete enough.

Thanks for a great podcast. A question I would have for Kate would be does she have a favorite kind of project, and what is her favorite kind of yarn to work with?
