YarnCraft Episode 29 :: On Location at the Lion Brand Yarn Studio Opening & Author Kate Jacobs Revisits The Friday Night Knitting Club

Lion Brand Yarn Studio

We’ve been waiting for the day and it’s finally here! Today is the grand opening of the NEW Lion Brand Yarn Studio and the girls of YarnCraft take you behind the scenes to get a sneak peek at the space, even if you can’t make it to New York. We interview Patty, James, and Will who work in the Studio and find out about the great features that make this space unique. We also hear from customers who visited the Studio during the two member preview days held last week. Then we’re joined by Kate Jacobs, bestselling author of The Friday Night Knitting Club and the new book, Knit Two, coming out on November 25th, and she tells us how you can have her visit YOUR book-club next year!

Patterns discussed include:

Stash This: Ideas for Your Crafting Life–Liz and Zontee are once again joined by the Studio crew, who share ideas for holiday decorations with your yarn–it’s a great way to try out new yarns like Vanna’s Glamour or great textured yarns like Sasha.

To share your comments and thoughts, post a message on the blog, email to yarncraft [at] lionbrand [dot] com! In our next episode, we recommend quick gift ideas for all of the last-minute yarncrafters. What’s your go-to gift? Let us know and you may be included in our next show!

The studio looks great! But, I am wondering about us poor knitters, crocheters, yarn crafters who live on the West Coast? Is there going to be a Lion Brand Yarn Studio out our way? If I have to spend money to fly from San Francisco to New York I won’t have any left to spend on yarn once I get there. Come on can’t you help us out and have a studio out here?

  2. YarnCraft Says:

    Hi Debbie,

We don’t have any plans for other Studios right now, but we do visit the West Coast for various events throughout the year (like Maker Faire in the San Francisco area in the spring), so we hope you’ll stop by!

  5. Grace Says:

AGH! I hear my voice… scary!! So many “uhms”!!!
When I got to studio I made a beeline for the yarns I wanted and I was a little overwhelmed by the crowd and the YARN and the crazy long line snaking all the way around the room. I hadn’t even been there more than 20 minutes when I was interviewed. Can you tell it was an exciting tactile experience?

  6. YarnCraft Says:

Teresa, thanks for your kind words!

Grace, thanks for stopping by the Studio! We hope to see you lots more in the future!

  7. Con Says:

I just listened to the podcast (school has me a little behind) and wished I could be there with you. The studio sounds wonderful. I went to Kate Jacobs website to sign up for the giveaway - and I’m definitely going to try to get a phone call for my bookclub!
