Thanks so much! This was such a helpful podcast episode. I knitted a capelet with Homespun a few years ago and was always aggravated with the shedding from the fringes. The tip about knotting the ends is just what I needed! ~Christine.

I love your podcasts–thanks so much! I was so pleased to hear that you’re making the blue cashmere cowl–I’ll start mine as soon as I seam up the Wool-Ease sweater I made for my husband. One thing I’ve found helpful when doing lace is to work up a sample of the pattern repeats with some leftover yarn before starting the actual project, to get the hang of the design. Then it’s less likely that I’ll have to tear out and start again with my “good” yearn. Using a lifeline is also very helpful–perhaps you can discuss that in a future podcast. Keep them coming!

Hi Christine, glad the tip helped!
Hi Barbara, thanks for the tip on doing a test swatch first — a very good point. Liz and I actually discuss lifelines and other helpful tips on episode 20: Oops! Common Mistakes and How to Fix Them.

For some reason I can’t listen to this one online nor download the podcast from iTunes. Anyone else having trouble?
Zontee says: Hi Rebecca, we haven’t heard of any problems, and we just tried to listen to it both here on the site and on iTunes and the episode worked fine. My tips for most internet-related problems: check your internet connection speed to see if it has slowed down too much to play MP3s off the site (sometimes because of traffic over your internet provider’s lines) or restart your computer (sometimes they just get finicky!).

This podcast was wonderfully informative! You answered so many questions I’ve wondered about, but haven’t wanted to take the time to research. I did lose a bet that acrylic and polyester are the same thing, but it was well worth it!
I love that Lion Brand has started using the number system on the ball bands. I know I still have to swatch when substituting, but at least I know I’m in the ballpark. Thank you
