I am so glad this episode came out! thanks Liz and Zontee!
I have just started doing amigurumi and I love it!
I tried doing Ssssandy the snake as my first one she turned out great, but other atempts of a haloween kitten before that turned into serveral cat toy balls. Then (after ssssandy the snake) I tried making Paula puppy. It could just be me and my crocheting, but the top of the head was 3 times the size of a large cup (wide) and I followed the pattern! I wasn`t sure about that, if it`s supposed to be like that, or smaller, I`m not sure. I do have 2 questions though….. When you are following a pattern (crochet, amigurumi) in the round, when you come to your stitch marker(round marker in this case) and your pattern is for example: sc in next 2 sts, sc 2 in next st etc.. When yu come to the end of your round and your in the middle of this pattern do you go to the last st your pattern tells you or do you stop at the sts marker? Also can you please make more amigurumi patterns (especially fish)? Thanks! bye!

Hi Miranda, thanks for writing! Just FYI, we’ve deleted your extra comment (and the comment about the extra comment), so no worries.

We’re so glad you’re enjoying making amigurumi and that you enjoyed the episode. Generally speaking, about your question about the pattern and where to increase, if you’ve been counting correctly, this shouldn’t happen. But if it does, just stop at the marker, and start the pattern for the new round on the other side of the marker. It’s not a big deal.

In terms of fish patterns, have you already made Francis the Fish, our Amigurumi Angel Fish, and our Goldfish?

  3. miranda Says:

Thanks for answering my question and I checked out those fish patterns but they`re not exactcly what I`m looking for.
If you want to know what I had in mind here`s my thought: On Sunday, October 4th, 2009 my beta fish (I`ve had for maybe 2 years or more), Sylvester (or Sly, and Sly Guy) died. We buried him in my backyard and we were very sad, what`s worse is I was using him for my science project and I asked my science teacher what I should do. She said I should of just watch him decomose for the next 2 days of my observation. Since I couldn`t my other teacher had a dead beta that she was going to put in a baggy and give to me to observe in my house for the next two days. I (like you two) am an animal lover and shrivled at this thought. She said my other option was to oberve other people`s dead fish (who`s were at the school) and I also thought that idea wasn`t fitting to my animal rights belifs. Since this really upset me (on top of my fish dying) I thought I could crochet a beta fish in honour of him. I could use the amigurumi angel fish pattern and put some fringe for fins but I`m trying to work in the round more lately. If at all possible could you perhaps help me combine the goldfish with the angel fish or give me a few ideas? If so greatly appreated!
P.S. If you have any comforting sujestion for any ideas about my project (not including anything dead please) and science story please let me know!
P.P.s. Me and my mom are trying to think of solutions and talk to my science teacher aqbout this but ideas are really helpful to me (and I`m not ready to get another pet/fish yet).
    Love the Podcasts!
    Sincerely and yours truly,
    Miranda

P.S this is something I already commented I just wanted to make sure you got some of my ideas. Thanks! And thanks for answering qand reading my comments!

Dear Liz and Zontee this Haloween episode is my aniversarie episode! Last year`s Haloween episode was the first episode I ever heard, so as you can see this episode`s important to me.
Since I`m a child (who knits and crochets a little) you might have guessed i love the toy patterns.
I also have some ideas for future episodes:
Last year after the Haloween episode you did a toy episode, I was wondering if you could do that again? Also some of my ideas: you know how in the newspapers they have daily horescopes? I was thinking once every month you could give a horescope for the month. Another ideas is a episode with funny yarn stories: Example; My cat was chewing on my knitting needles and then she licked them better and rubbed the side of her head on them, I`ve always taught her to appologize after she bites so I asume that`s what she was doing….
I hope you like my ideas, use them, and share stories of pets, and family members having fun with yarn.
Wishing your new episodes the best (and you two of course!),
    love, Miranda

  5. YarnCraft Says:

    Hi Miranda,

Check on Ravelry.com for lots and lots of fish patterns from many knitters and crocheters — I’m sure there’s one that you can use and/or adapt.

If you want to use the goldfish pattern, I think it’s a good start for the body, then you can add fringe or make wavy shapes using our Hyperbolic Crochet Shapes pattern for big betta fins.

Also, thanks for commenting, and remember that we read all of our comments, so you don’t need to post them in more than one place.

Happy crafting and thanks for listening!

Oh my goodness! I’m going crazy here clicking on all these links! Great ideas! Thank you!

    Liz & Zontee:

Love the Halloween podcast and wanted to give Liz the idea of doing some of the Christmas ornaments as a “portable” project. This way you can decorate your tree and have something small to take with you. I LOVE them!

Thanks and keep up the great podcasts! I look forward to each one!
    Tamara
