In this episode of YarnCraft, Liz & Zontee explore inspiration & crafting with yarn–what inspires us to knit & crochet, how crafting helps inspire us to try new things, and so much more. We share comments and stories from listeners, as well as interviewing two special guests whose work have been inspired and influenced by yarncrafting in different ways.

First, we talk to mystery author, Betty Hechtman, whose crochet mysteries featuring Molly Pink and the Tarzana Hookers. She combines her love of intrigue with her love of crochet, and in doing so, has written 6 mystery novels. Betty’s latest book is Behind the Seams.

Then, we talk to Alex Perruzzi, VP at Martha Stewart Living. He tells us what’s currently on his needles, why Martha Stewart was inspired to dive back into yarncrafts at this point in her personal life, and how the colors and textures of the Martha Stewart Crafts™ Lion Brand line were inspired.

Finally, on Stash This: Ideas for Your Crafting Life, Liz & Zontee take yarncrafting into the technology age with apps for your various devices. We share recommendations for apps including the Lion Brand app, two new ones from our friends at Interweave: Knit Handy & Crochet Handy, the Vogue Knitting app, KnitBuddy, Crochet Course, Etsy Addict, iSpinToolKit, and more.

We’ll be taking a break for the holidays, but join us again after the new year for a brand new episode of YarnCraft. In the meantime, be sure to leave a comment telling us about how your holiday yarncrafting is going, what you’re looking forward to making in the new year, or what you want to hear more about! We hope to hear from you! Leave a message on the blog or email us at yarncraft [at] lionbrand [dot] com! You can also call in and leave a message at 774-452-YARN–that’s 774-452-9276.

Thanks for the introduction to Betty Hechtman and her yarncraft mysteries. What could be better – my three favorite things in one – yarncrafting, murder mysteries, and books-on-tape!!
I will miss your podcasts and look forward with great anticipation to the new year when they return.  I have always found your first podcasts of the new years to be very inspirational for trying new things and goal-setting.  Have a wonderful holiday season!

I’ve read all of Betty Hechtman’s books and I eagerly await reading the newest book. Her characters are so real, remind me of people I know. Great episode! Happy Holidays!!

I’m so excited to read Betty Hechtman’s books!  There are so many novels out there about knitters, but I’ve never seen one about crocheters.  Thanks for the tip!

Please mention the 2012 Calendar of Hope on your podcas. This is our 4th year of publication and as a survivor myself, it’s my way of giving back with the help of some very talented knitters.
Almost 100% of the proceeds go to the armyofwomen.com which is trying to find out WHY we get breast cancer.
You can read more about the calendar on my website http://www.fitterknitter.com
I really look forward to listening to Yarn Craft every week. I always learn something.
Also all the patterns in the calendar can be knit with Lion Cotton yarn.
